Power Up Front – Experienced Rugby International Jared Sichel Scrums Down for The Tel Aviv Heat

Versatile prop Jared Sichel has committed his rugby services to The Tel Aviv Heat for the upcoming Rugby Europe Super Cup season.

In a rugby career spanning 20 years, Jared excelled at Glenwood High School in Durban, South Africa, as part of the 2008 Sanix World Schools championship team in Japan before progressing to the Boland Rugby Academy, into the u21 Sharks Academy, and the premiership Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) Club Durban Collegians.

Jared sees himself as a sociable, genuine team guy and attributes his rugby success to his coaching mentors, namely Sean Erasmus (school coach), Robin Swanepoel (Club Coach) and Kevin Musikanth (International Coach) all of whom taught him to believe in himself and to reach for the stars.

Sichel on signing for the Tel Aviv Heat:

I am extremely honored to be chosen to represent the Tel Aviv Heat as Israel's first professional rugby franchise. This opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a part of the inaugural Rugby Europe Super Cup, whilst playing alongside some really special players from many different countries and I am looking forward to a massive personal challenge…

Scrum Doctor Paul Day on Sichel :

Looking forward to working with Jared. He is an experienced, versatile, powerful scrummager, having gained many of his skills playing in the tough super A league in Cape Town. His strength of character in recovering from a serious injury says a lot about the values he will bring to the squad…
