No waiting in the wings for Xolisa Guma - Tel Aviv Heat's new outside back signing…

Tel Aviv Heat is proud to announce the signing of electric winger Xolisa Guma for the upcoming Rugby Europe Super Cup.


Guma is a try scoring machine, born in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.


As a young boy growing up he committed to assisting in taking his family out of poverty through his talents as a sportsman. This has been Xolisa’s motivation from the time that his talents were recognized on the rugby field. Educated at Maritzburg College a school that has rich rugby tradition, world cup winning stars like Joel Stransky, Butch James and most recently Jesse Kriel being old boys.


Xolisa played 50 times for his school a rare feet for the modern day school boy. He represented craven week two years in a row 2014 and 2015 and went on to play age group rugby for the sharks, before relocating to the Bulls.


Contracted by well-known international coach John Mitchel Guma excelled as the stand out player for the Bulls u21.


He was the top try scorer in the 2017 u21 Currie Cup competition.


In 2018 and 2019 he played for TUKKIES (University of Pretoria) in the Varsity Cup where in 2018 he was joint top try scorer. He made the Bulls Currie Cup squad as well as turned out for the senior Bulls team 10 times in the Super sport Challenge.


He is also an accomplished 7’s player where he has represented SA Academy in 7’s.


Xolisa looks up to Warrick Gelant, Makazole Mampimpi and Lukhanyo Am.


They are all friends of his but he sees them as his rugby mentors, with Mampimpi being the player Xolisa models his game on.


Guma speaks of himself as an ambitious person who is hard working and a man of strong faith.


He loves fashion and spending time with his family and friends.

Xolisa comes highly rated with exceptional references from his coaches, having been coached by the likes of Frankie Horne and John Mitchell, both who rate Xolisa highly and tip him to go all the way. We look forward to unlocking his unique potential and energy during the journey of the Tel Aviv Heat.

We have both been impressed with his enthusiasm in his interactions to date. We look forward to this high energy in the build-up to the competition. His try scoring abilities and magic are clear to sea in his highlight reels coupled with the track record of often being the top try scorer in the competitions he plays in makes him

an exciting prospect for the team…

This honestly means the world to me and my family to sign for this organisation it answered prayers for me when coach Kevin made an offer for me to sign for the Tel Aviv Heat, the timing was perfect and I simply could not turn it down. It’s a very exciting project and I am looking forward to being coached by great coaches Kevin and Demitri. I can not wait to meeting all the boys who have signed for the team I promise to work hard and score some tries I just thank God for this opportunity…
