The Tel Aviv Heat was formed last year upon winning a bid to join the newly formed Rugby Europe Super Cup, the first ever club competition for the emerging rugby unions in Europe. Though based in Israel, the Heat assembled a truly international player roster that combined members of the Israeli national team with elite players from South Africa, the UK, Fiji, Namibia, Ireland, and Samoa and built communities of passionate supporters from around the world. Competing in the Eastern Conference against professional clubs from Georgia and Russia, the Heat finished the regular season 3-3, with wins over Enisei-STM, the Russian club national champions, and Lokomotiv Penza, the Russian runners-up.
On Saturday, April 16th, the Heat will face the Lusitanos, who finished on top of the Western Conference table after winning all six of their regular season games against teams from Spain, Netherlands, and Belgium.
Details on TV-broadcast coverage are forthcoming.
