TEL AVIV, Israel, 8 July, 2021

The Tel Aviv Heat is proud to announce that Kevin Musikanth will serve as the team’s first Director of Rugby and Head Coach for the upcoming inaugural season of the Rugby Europe Super Cup.

As the first ever Annual European club competition for Europe involving non-Six Nations countries, the Super Cup gives Israeli players the opportunity to compete on a regular basis on a much higher level of competition than was previously possible.

To maximize the chances for competitive success, the Tel Aviv Heat put a top priority on securing a world-class coach to assemble and lead an international roster that combines the best talent from within Israel and beyond.

As the current Technical Director and National Team Head Coach for Rugby Israel and the former head coach of University of Cape Town, False Bay RFC, and the 2017 South African Maccabiah team, Kevin is uniquely positioned to employ the highest standards of professionalism and elevate the game of rugby in Israel.

Kevin Musikanth:

"It is hugely exciting to have been selected as the coach of the Tel Aviv Heat. Credit to Rugby Europe for bringing additional opportunity to rugby in Europe with a high-level competition such as this. This will undoubtedly raise the standard of rugby in the respective countries and give talented players an opportunity to apply their skills on a professional platform. For our region, this is a game changer, it provides a pathway for players and coaches alike, but most importantly it gives license not only for rugby dreams but also creates a platform for such dreams to become realities. We are engaged with some world class marquee players who will serve as a fulcrum for the rest of the team to develop around. It has been incredible to see the support of Rugby Israel and a committee of dedicated people, championed by businessmen and philanthropist Mike Aron, who shared this dream from the outset. We are excited to formally begin our journey and honoured to have been chosen as one of the 8 inaugural Super Cup franchises by Rugby Europe. We can not wait to go ALL IN, come September this year. "

Pete Sickle, CEO Tel Aviv Heat:

We are very fortunate to enlist a coach of Kevin’s caliber to lead the first-ever professional rugby team in Israel. Before coming to Israel to lead the national teams and high performance program, Kevin already had an impressive record of developing South African players and helping them launch successful careers at the highest levels of pro rugby. Kevin’s ability to match his keen rugby intellect with the formation of strong bonds with his players will pay great dividends for the Tel Aviv Heat for years to come.”
