Classy Pieter Jansen Solidifies the Front Row of the Tel Aviv Heat
The Tel Aviv Heat is proud to announce the signing of marquee Hooker Pieter Jansen to bring strength and stability to the young Tel Aviv Heat front row.
At 26, Jansen is a strong, mobile hooker with a strong rugby pedigree, from elite junior
teams throughout school playing Craven Week for The Valke and being chosen as a SA u18
representative to signing for the Lions straight after school.
Pieter represented University of Johannesburg in the Varsity Cup in 2015 and played for the
Lions U19 and U21 from 2014-2016 before breaking into senior rugby. With Super Rugby
under his belt and vast experience at the highest level, Pieter will certainly raise the quality
and strength of the Heat’s front row.
The Tel Aviv Heat finds itself in a group against tough Russian teams and the Black Lion from
Georgia who pride themselves on the scrum. Against such stalwart forward packs, Pieter’s
experience will prove invaluable for The Tel Aviv Heat.
A hard working hooker who has often found himself in leadership positions, Pieter last
played for New England Free Jacks in the Major League Rugby competition in the USA.
The Tel Aviv Heat is honoured to have a player of Pieter’s calibre spearheading the scrum
Dylan Coll of Esportif on Pieter Jansen signing with the Tel Aviv Heat:
“Pieter is a brilliant set piece hooker and just the type of player that will add huge value to the exciting Tel Aviv Heat Roster. Pieter prides himself on a great work rate both on attack and defence. He is a natural leader and this will prove invaluable in the tough group that The Tel Aviv Heat is in. I am excited to see Pieter’s influence in the coming weeks...”
Pieter Jansen on signing for the Tel Aviv Heat:
